Overview

The Department of Biotechnology at the National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER) Guwahati started offering M.S. (Pharm) in Biotechnology since 2010 and Ph.D. program since 2014 to contribute to the fascinating and vast area of Biological Sciences and its applications in Pharmaceutical Sciences. Biotechnology Department of NIPER-Guwahati the only NIPER to have a Synthetic Biology Laboratory, which is listed among the Indian Synthetic Biology labs.

Long Term Goals

• Exploration of Northeast’s Biodiversity for active therapeutic principles
• Development of Therapeutic target on Peptide from Natural resources in Oral & Breast Cancer prevalent in North East India.
• Establishment of integration free induced pluripotent stem cells for biomedical application.
• Development of new Biopharamaceuticals for various debilitating diseases.
• To make NIPER-Guwahati cutting edge hub for Genome based customised therapeutics for Oral Cancer prevalent in the North East India.
